What is an airdrop in crypto?

An airdrop is when a project sends tokens to many wallets at no charge, often to spread awareness or reward early users. Real airdrops exist, but fake airdrop offers are a common scam. Scammers send tokens or links that lead to sites asking you to connect your wallet and approve something, which can drain it.
