What is an NFT?

Last reviewed:

An NFT, or non-fungible token, is a one-of-a-kind token on a blockchain. It works like a digital receipt that points to an item, such as artwork, a ticket or a game item. "Non-fungible" means each one is unique and cannot be swapped one-for-one like dollars. Owning an NFT does not always mean you own the copyright to the item.
